Mental Wellness Tips

Celebrate World Health Day by Taking Care of YOU!

According to the CDC, mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life.

World Health Day on April 7th is a good reminder to take steps to nourish your own mental health.

Here are a few things we're doing to take care of our mental health and help us relax & unwind.

Repeat after us - "Bye, bye stress!"

Have you heard of acupressure for your ears? Meet WTHN, Ear Seeds that are touted to help reduce stress and lead to better sleep using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Need a quick attitude break? Try watching this video featuring baby goats in sweaters!

Check out The Shift, which looks like a fancy whistle but is so much more. The Shift promotes the feeling of calm by adjusting your biology through controlled breath.

Perhaps an app is more your style? There's plenty to love about the Calm app - the #1 app for sleep and meditation.

Coloring for Your Health

Coloring, or art therapy, has the ability to relax the fear center of your brain, the amygdala. It induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind. This generates mindfulness and quietness, which allows your mind to get some rest after a long day at work.

In a 2006 study, researchers found that mindfulness art therapy for women with cancer helped to significantly decrease the symptoms of physical and emotional distress during their treatment. Art therapy has also been helpful to people coping with other conditions, including depression, anxiety, addictions, and trauma.

We created a downloadable Desire Coloring Page to help you relax and unwind.
